OUR STORY


Quinsera is an online sustainable fashion community information hub aiming to redefine the Ghanaian fashion industry through the female lens. Quinsera exists to drive sustainability at the core of Ghanaian fashion businesses through the provision of women-led novel sustainability information and education.


Quinsera's approach to fashion sustainability and climate change is hinged on the idea that women are a vital resource as carers for the environment, and this idea guides our mission.


At Quinsera, we believe that we can mitigate the issues of climate change and move towards a sustainable future through leadership, as well as through motivating community action to develop climate resilience and influence local and global policy. We aim to achieve this by educating women, giving them more leadership opportunities, and bringing their voices to the forefront.

Quinsera values the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as adopted by the United Nations Member States in 2015, with a focus on the following:

Quality Education

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Target 4.5: Eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and children in vulnerable situations.

Goal 5: Gender Equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Target 5.5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Target 12.6: Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

Target 12.8: Ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

Goal 13: Climate Action

 Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Target 13.3: Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

Target 17.17: Encourage and promote effective public, public-private, and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships.


THE FOUNDER

Harriet Ann Adjabeng is a freelance fashion writer, children's book author, and researcher, specializing in Sustainable Fashion. She is a contributing author having written a chapter in the book, Fashion Marketing in Emerging Economies. She is also a 2022 Community Solutions Fellow where she served the Fashion Impact Fund as a communications and partnerships fellow. Harriet pursued an MSc. in Sustainability and Consultancy at the University of Leeds on the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.

Harriet is passionate about amplifying the voices and leadership of women to mitigate the issues of climate change and move towards a sustainable future; particularly within the Ghanaian fashion industry to influence global action.
